CERT-In has issued a warning regarding high-severity security flaws in TP-Link Archer routers. Know which models are affected, what is the threat and what steps users should take

Danger of file deletion and internet shutdown, flaw in these routers, CERT-In alert

Which routers are at risk?

India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-severity security alert regarding some TP-Link Archer series routers. It has been told in this advisory that by taking advantage of many serious flaws present in these routers, hackers can delete files in the device or can completely disrupt the internet service through denial-of-service (DoS) attack. This warning has been issued under the ID CIVN-2026-0034.

According to CERT In, this security flaw affects certain TP Link Archer router models. These include the TP-Link Archer BE400 V1, which is running on firmware version 1.1.0 (Build 20250710 rel.14914) or earlier, and the TP-Link Archer AXE75 v1.6, which is running on firmware version 1.1.0 (Build 20250710 rel.14914) or earlier. These routers are used extensively in homes as well as offices and institutions.

What is the security flaw?

According to CERT-In, this weakness is related to the 802.11 wireless module of the router. Problems like lack of input validation and incorrect handling of pointer references have been found. If a remote attacker successfully takes advantage of these flaws, he can delete important files from the router. Apart from this, Internet connection can also be shut down by crashing the router through DoS attack.

risk and impact

CERT-In has placed this vulnerability in the high risk category. This means that users are at risk of Internet service disruption, unauthorized access to the system, and compromised network security. This may affect the confidentiality and availability of the system.

TP-Link has released new updates to fix these flaws, which are available on the company’s official support website. Apart from this, it has also been advised to turn off remote management access where not required and follow general network security rules.
