This matter has now become so serious that an FIR has been registered against him in Bengaluru. New Delhi: Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s troubles seem to be increasing. Showing enthusiasm on the stage of the International Film Festival of India held in Goa has now become a burden for him. Actually, Ranveer is accused of copying and making fun of the sacred divine ritual from Rishabh Shetty’s film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. This matter has now taken a legal turn and an FIR has been registered against him at High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. This entire incident took place on 28 November 2025, which has now increased their troubles.

Ranveer Singh performed on stage during the event which has now been accused of hurting religious sentiments. Following the court’s instructions, Bengaluru Police formally registered this complaint on Wednesday. Divine rituals are considered very sacred and related to faith, which is why Ranveer’s mimicry has now gained legal significance.

Ranveer Singh accused of insulting Chavundi Dev

This complaint has been filed by Bengaluru lawyer Prashant Methal. It is alleged in the complaint that Ranveer Singh, through his performance, has insulted the very sacred Chavundi Daiva tradition of coastal Karnataka, which has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu society. In this case, a case has been registered against Ranveer Singh under sections 196, 299 and 302 of the Indian Justice Code.

According to the FIR, the complainant alleges that Ranveer Singh made fun of the sacred divine tradition during his performance on stage. He presented a sensitive and faith-related topic like divine rituals in a very vulgar, funny and insulting manner. In the complaint, special objection has been raised that Ranveer during the performance imitated the sacred postures and expressions associated with Panjurli and Guliga Daiva, which the followers of this tradition considered an insult to their faith.

The lawyer has made another serious allegation in his complaint. He says that Ranveer Singh has addressed Chavundi Daiva as a female ghost. According to the complainant, this comment of Ranveer is not only wrong, but it completely tarnishes the spiritual and cultural importance of this sacred power.

Court adopted tough stance on Ranveer Singh

Now this entire matter has reached the threshold of the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Bengaluru, where the court is investigating the case closely. The court has fixed April 8 for the next hearing of this case. According to court documents, lawyer Prashant Methal had filed a private complaint before the Additional Judicial Magistrate of Bengaluru on December 27 last year. Taking cognizance of this, the court took a tough stand on January 23 and ordered the High Grounds Police Station to register a formal FIR in the matter under Section 175(3) of the Indian Judicial Code and start investigation.
